Happy Haunting! Somehow, I did not get into the Halloween spirit until yesterday when I finally bought some candy and put up some decoration in preparation for the kids who will be trick-or-treating tonight. I just have to decide on whether to don my classic witch outfit or come up with something more creative and interesting that can be executed in the last minute.
With the temperature dipping daily, I've transitioned to baked treats. There is something I've been craving for a really long time and I'm excited to share with you in this offering. Tambun biscuit, a traditional delicacy from Penang. Individually hand laminated dough encapsulates a ball of mung bean paste combined with fried shallots transformed to delicious sweet flaky layers and savory filling bliss. I don't think there's anything quite like it. Try it and you'll know what I mean.
Also in the Baked Box, is Kaya Kok (Kaya Puff), if you miss it last year, here's your chance; yet another flaky puff pastry filled with rich and creamy caramel kaya (coconut jam) baked to golden perfection.
