Are we done (sheltering in place) yet? Not quite but I've learned that every day is a new day and with each new day, there's joy to be found (especially in food). So, eat we must. All the pent up energy and emotion call for something crispy on the outside and bursting with flavor on the inside.
Say hello to a much loved tea time treat in Malaysia, the Curry Puff. It can be widely found at roadside stalls or the markets but the best ones are usually homemade. As a teenager, I enjoyed many afternoon escapades at my best friend's house where homemade karipap (As we call it in Malaysia) is an afternoon treat staple.
Curry puff comes in a variety of crust and filling and my favorite is the Spiral Curry Puff, known for its beautiful layers. I love the satisfying crunch of biting into the layers that are deep fried to golden perfection and the bold tasty flavors of comforting curried potatoes.
